Flap Wheel Safety

Warning
  • Polishing can be a dangerous occupation, and extreme care should be used when operating any Flap Wheel. If a wheel should disengage during use, it could cause serious injury to any unprotected body parts.
  • Improper use of running flanges can cause a Flap Wheel to disengage and cause injury.
  • All Flap Wheels must be run with a proper sized pair of running flanges. One running flange on each side of the Flap Wheel.
  • DO NOT USE RUNNING FLANGES THAT ARE TOO SMALL OR TOO BIG!
  • Running flanges should be the same size as the Flap Wheel center flange. Flap Wheel center flanges are either 2" 3" 4" 5" 6" 8" or 10" in diameter.
  • Be sure that running flanges meet OSHA standards. Heavy duty bell type running flanges are available from Schaffner Manufacturing.
